National Capacity Building

Involvement and capacity building of communities’ members and local authorities as conservation leaders, towards a sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems.

One of the main strategies of Programa Tatô is to involve, train and build the capacity of the main stakeholders of sea turtle conservation as conservation leaders, towards a sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems, through:

- The integration, involvement, capacity-building, and following-up of around 50 beach and marine local monitoring agents, most of them former sea turtle poachers;
- A National Internship Program, with the integration of 2 to 3 recently graduated biologists (or other interesting areas) annually, since 2016;
- The Involvement, capacity-building, and advocacy of national authorities to improve law enforcement measures.
