WHERE WE ARE
On the island of São Tomé, this conservation program, develops its monitoring activities on 75 km of beach. 77 beaches are monitored in the north, east and south of the island, as well as on the beaches of Ilhéu das Rolas. In addition to the main nesting beaches, the feeding and resting areas of sea turtles off São Tomé Island are also monitored.
Programa Tatô also works in partnership with IBAP, the Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Areas of Guinea Bissau, to share experiences and contribute to capacity building of Guinean actors in sea turtle conservation techniques and environmental education and awareness strategies.
